Energy goes where attention goes, and attention naturally pulls in associated thoughts. When these thoughts are not allowed to flow, they get stuck — and this is where stress begins.

My Understanding of Stress

  • Stress usually arises from the fear of not knowing the outcome of a situation.

  • Stress is constrictive; it leaves little room for expansive thinking. With no structure, anxious thoughts keep circling around limited options.

  • Anticipation of any kind — positive or negative — can be stressful.

  • Thoughts carry memories, fantasies, scenarios, and feelings. Identifying ourselves with them creates stress.

  • A stressful mindset often overrides peaceful moments and follows a conditioned route of conflict and confusion.

  • Stress is often a resistance to letting go and seeing beyond our limited perception.

  • Trying to take on more than we can handle creates stress and affects our ability to deliver effectively.

  • Unreasonable expectations from ourselves or others lead to stress.

  • Stress surfaces when we allow our lives to be dictated by judgment, misunderstanding, rejection, or disapproval.

  • We experience stress when we do not exercise our choice to change a thought.

Common Bodily Reactions to Stress

Headaches

Lack of energy

Heightened reflexes or jumpiness

Clenched jaw and fists

Allergies

Shortness of breath

Difficulty concentrating

Sleeplessness

Loss of appetite

How to Deal with Stress

Every stressful situation carries a hidden blessing and a learning. Train your thoughts to see it and stay with it. Refocus until it replaces the stressful thought.

Change a critical thought into a compassionate one.

Shift from “How could I do this?” to “I didn’t know better then, but now I do.” This instantly eases stress.

Avoid dictating outcomes.

Practice faith and surrender. Trust the higher power and its larger plan.

Practice detachment — not everything needs stressful attention. Sometimes it’s enough to observe, do your best, and let go.

Assess stressful scenarios:

Is the stress coming from the situation or from rigid thinking? Cultivate flexibility.

Be mindful of your capacity. There is no need to take on more than you can handle.

Practice vulnerability.

Stress is not a badge of honour. It is okay to ask for help and support.

During stressful phases, be more intuitive.

Observe whether the stress is coming from the thought or the situation, instead of relying solely on conditioned logic.

Give thoughts importance only where needed. Let the rest pass — they do not define reality. Thoughts are like clouds; you hold far more power.

Practice “live and let live.” Nurturance and compassion eliminate the stress of one-upmanship.

Daily Practices for Managing StressMeditation:

Sit in stillness and breathe intentionally for at least 10 minutes every morning after waking up.

Intentions:

Mentally set the intention to consciously choose thoughts that feel light and let go of those that feel heavy. Practise self-care throughout the day.

Gratitude:

Gratitude has a powerful frequency that anchors us in the present moment. It helps us notice goodness and blessings that a stressed, overthinking mind often overlooks.

End your day by writing at least five things you feel grateful for. This shifts the mindset from stress to appreciation and connects you more deeply with your heart.
